My boyfriend constantly gets traffic tickets and it makes me very upset and frustrated. He says he doesn't care what I think of the way he drives and continues to be careless. How many tickets does it take before he gets his license taken away?

Depends on the violations and the state. NY state has a "points" system in place.
In this case, I believe 21 points = no licence.
If his violations are severe enough he could just go to jail. If he does'nt pay the tickets he will go to jail, eventually the system will catch up with him and he will lose his licence if not his freedom.
Wreckless endangerment is frowned upon where ever you are. And if he accidently hits/kills someone he is really screwed!

I got 1 traffic ticket in Philly in 1971. Speeding - 65 in a 50 zone on an expressway. The way the officer wrote it up, I got no points. 6 months later they suspended my license for thirty days and I had to ride a bike to work. I don't know how he's getting away with it, but anyone with that much disregard for the safety of others sonds like a jerk to me.

My ex-boyfriend was the same way. it really depends who he is dealing with. My friend got hers taken away after just five tickets (which is too many if you ask me) but my ex, who lives in the same county, had 22 before even getting the warning!
another thing: if he doesn't care about what you say, even if it is "just" driving, he is not worth it. My brother died two months ago as a passenger in a car accident, and the other four people in the car kept begging the driver to slow down, along with my brother. You don't want your face on the news just because your boyfriend is an immature showoff. If he doesn't care about your concerns, what else does he not care about? Anything you say, that;s what.

You need to contact the DMV in your state to find that information.
I think the more important question is why he doesn't care what you think or what is the right thing to do. He is neglecting his responsibilities and abusing your right to communication as a couple.
If he is so careless with this situation and with you, what else is he careless with... Red Flags all the way girl.

I got one traffic ticket and two weeks later I received a letter saying pay up or they would put a boot on my car. .what your immature ands selfish boyfriend does not realize that if he causes bodily harm to another person because of his careless driving habits, his life will become one expensive nightmare.

Points, its all in the number of points. In my state you get to 7 points and you have to retake drivers ed. You get to 12 and you lose your license. While he may not care what you think of him, which makes him a jerk, he'll certainly care about what his auto insurance company thinks when they review his insurance policy. The state does notify insurance companies of traffic tickets and violations. The more points you have, the higher your rates go. I have to insure my husband under my name because his driving record is so bad.

Constantly gets ticket? he probably doesn't have a license. I'd lose him fast. There are 300,000,000 people in the US. Surely you can find someone else with more regard for what you think.
