Some of my friends seem to think it is strange that I can make a joke at my own expense, and accept the fact that -
a. Im gay and dont feel guilty about it and dont try to hide the fact.
b. Im overweight and Im not constantly on a diets
and c. I dont hate or really dislike anybody (EXCEPT TROLLS LOL).
My question is "Has anybody else run into this attitude", and how do I make them realize that "YES I AM HAPPY WITH MYSELF".

Dear dasoto, my being gay was one point among many. Though I do thank you for your inept and akwardly word'ed answer I suggest you read and comprehend the compleat question before focusing on one part of it.

KUDOS to you Eric! I too am gay and not guilty, overweight and not dieting, and I don't really truly hate anyone either. So to answer your question.....you are not alone! Just tell your friends "Different strokes for different folks!"

No, it is not strange at all! I applaud you on this one. I had always
wanted blue eyes, and blond hair, the American ideal of beauty. But I am half Puerto Rican. I have dark hair, now with highlights, but I am in love with my own big, brown Latina eyes. I wouldn't trade them for anything. But men have always said that they like blonds with blue eyes. But I am n ow embracing who I am and loving it. And I have to say that even though I don't know you, you have made me very proud!!!

You have a sense of humor about your self.
Sometimes it's easier and less painful to laugh at yourself, before somebody else laughs AT you. It takes the sting out of homophobia.
You are the most at ease with yourself.

what is important is that you believe you are legitimate.
Some people will accept that and some won't.
Ignore the ones that don't and move on.
No one ever says you have to put on a outfit everyday and become someone else.
If you are not genuinely happy being you, people will notice.
Especially the ones who consider themselves close to you.

Look just because you are gay does not make you one of a kind and the only one who runs into this. Everyone just about has or maybe everyone has the same problems in one fashion or another. I have no problem with anyone being one way or another, but I do have a problem when they talk about it so much. It makes me think that the only one that has a problem with it could be themselves. Do worry about it, if you're really happy and confident in yourself, you wouldn't keep asking these questions or question, think about it.

definitely is not strange, just means you've accepted who you really are, and are happy. If people can't except that then they should just leave well enough alone, and carry on with they're on business...Jim
