the two are not even really comparable, jermaine o'neal has never reached the potential of what many expected when he was drafted out of high school. Carmelo has helped to keep the nuggets a western competitor from the moment he came to the team. O'neal has struggled to keep indiana as any type of powerhouse in a much less competitive eastern conference, since reggie miller's departure. Also, melo's contract is almost 2 million less a year than o'neal's, look at the stats of each player, and there is no question on melo's dominance over o'neal

I say Carmelo because he can be a # 1 option and I believe he can shoulder a team to victory better than Jermaine O'Neal. Also, 'Melo is less injury prone.

Carmelo is more talented, but he's a locker room cancer. None of his teammates like him, and he will be in trouble with the league and the law throughout his career. O'Neal is very well received in the locker room, popular with his teammates, and other than the Ron Artest-fueled brawl, has been very respectable to the league. If I'm starting a team, I'll take O'Neal.

I find it amusing that anybody who answered Carmelo is getting a thumbs down response. And the foolish statement that "None of his teammates like him, and he will be in trouble with the league and law throughout his career" is just idiotic. He is loved by his teammates, coaches, fans, and the city and state in general. He is young and making some dumb mistakes, but don't we all. It's a matter of learning from your mistakes and not repeating them which Anthony is proving he can do. He has donated millions to charity and turning out to be a great leader as he will continue to show with the USA basketball team. So, thumbs down for me.

Better at what--basketball or fighting? Carmelo's better at basketball, but O'neal's better at fighting (he will kill Melo even if he gets sucker punched). Who would I take if I could choose? Of course Jermaine...I wouldnt want a pussy who cant fight on my team (and ONeal isnt a bad basketball player either)

If they played one-on-one, O'Neal would be schooled, but thankfully, basketball is a team sport. I'd rather have O'Neal on my team because he's less likely to be a locker room cancer (that, and it's no secret I loathe Anthony).

Carmelo Anthony. These two can't even be compared to each other.

At this time Carmello is better but he hasn't been as good as Oneal for as long as Oneal. Only time will tell.
