I had my daughter at 26 weeks and when we finally got to take her home, her doctors told us that hiccuping was a sign that she was over stimulated and to give her some down, quiet time when it happened.

My daughter (who is a month old today) gets the hiccups 1 or 2 times everyday. I asked the doc about it when we were still in the hospitial becuase these hiccups just sound painful! They said it's totally normal and doesn't really bother them at all. I've brought it up at all 3 doc appts we've had and they don't blink an eye...Hiccups are normal

No. My baby did it all the time when she was an infant. She is now 18 months old and healthy and normal as anyone else her age.
Talk to your doctor. They will give you the sides of each argument, and then can give you their opinion. But I would hesitate on taking the stuff you find on the internet as gospel. One can find sites that will tell you a papercut can kill you. I'm sure it can - in some rare, odd way - but one risks their lives getting up out of bed each morning as well.

Hiccups in babies are common and they don't hurt the little ones either.

HICCUPS IN BABY ARE COMPLETELY NORMAL...IF IT SOUNDS WEIRD IS BECAUSE THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT SOUND LIKE WE MAKE IT SOUND...THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO CONTROL IT SO THAT IS WHY IT FREAKS US OUT...
