WW1 ended the monarches of Europe, stopped colonilization of the 3rd world by Europe, gave birth to the USSR and a wider communist movement, broke the US out of it's isolationist policies, destroyes the Austrian-Hungarian empire and the Ottoman empire. Then because of serious miscalculations the victors did not properly punish Germany and set the stage for WW2. The time between those wars were simpley a breather that allowed both sides to catch thier breaths and have another go at it, only this time on a much larger scale

The First World War lasted from 1914-1918.
It supposably started June 28 1914 with the assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand, heir to throne of Austria-Hungary, and his wife at Sarajevo, Bosnia.

By the end of the war, November 11, 1918 - a total of 65,038,810 troops had been mobilized and a total of 37,508,686 were dead.

Basically the Kaiser had a big Idea to eliminate terrorist supporting states that killed a guy named Archduke ferdinand. So he invaded some sovereign nations and the rest of the world felt threatened and a world war started.

Europe got embroiled in a very nasty trench war. It took the Americans to go over there and save the day by kicking Hun butt. Then we had to do it all over again in WWII.
