Flyers weren't doing so hot with Foresberg, but they haven't won a game without him! I think they've sealed their fate and they're doomed. Giving up a captin is a MAJOR blow to the teams morale

never say Forsberg is another Lindros, Forsberg is 10 times better then Lindros and the Nordiques (Avalanche) got the better deal in the trade. the two players that Philly got aren't top players but Upshall is to be a 40 to 50 points scorer later in his career or maybe the next 4 years and 2 draft picks so it was a good trade cause Forsberg will most likely retire after this year, and the Preds weren't going to give up key players for Forsberg do to the fact of his contract and his injuries, so yes it was a good move for both teams as the Flyers are trying to build for the future and the Predators are trying to win the Stanley cup this year. Forsberg might not even get that much playing time till the playoffs to rest his foot so he can try an be at lest 90% for the playoffs time. and we all know if Forsberg is around 90% better then hes better then most players at 100% health.

No. Forsberg will probably never be the same player he was. Lets face it he's older, his body won't recover like it used to, it's not as quick as it used to be, and the problems with his skates sound a little more like excuses or just mental issues he's conjured up in his own head. Don't forget that a couple of years ago, the Mighty Ducks traded some proven, but aging talent in Sergei Fedorov, and Peytr Sykora, and they let guys like Steve Rucchin, Vitaly Vishnevsky, Ruslan Salei, Keith Carney, oh and Paul Kariya just walk away via free agency so that they could get some younger faster, bigger stronger guys in there, and look at them now, they're serious cup contenders with a young scrappy, talented team. Nashville very well may win it all this year, but they may have mortgaged their future to do it, and even if they do win, and the fans start showing up, they won't be there a couple years down the line when their aging superstars are retired, and their team is losing again. So no, I don't think Forsberg wasn't worth it, not in the long run anyway.

Acquiring Forsberg means the Predators are serious (to their fans) about winning and it should help them sell out their remaining home games (they haven't been doing that too well all season despite being a solid team).
Did they give up too much? On the surface, I'll trade for proven winner in Forsberg over "potential" any day. However, this trade could come back to haunt the Preds if Forsberg can't deliver much the rest of the season and then walks at the end of the year.

It was definitely worth it. Nashville wants to win now and they had a very good chance this year before they got Forsberg. Now they have a great chance. Even a Forsberg who is 75% is still better than a lot of people in the league. And don't forget the huge playoff experience he brings to the team. As for Philadelphia, they are built for the future and keeping Forsberg around was not going to help them.

I honestly think the trade was interesting. They gave up fourth liners and draft picks for one of the best players as of late but who is so ONLY when he's healthy. The Predators have always built their team based on draft picks, yet this year they spent their money picking up Jason Arnott and J.P. Dumont. Look where they are now. I believe that, as long as Forsberg is able to deliver during the entire Stanley Cup run and that the Preds are able to sign him for at least 2 years more, the trade will be well worth what they gave up. If not, the first round draft pick may be costly for the Preds.

oh boy for starters forsberg is twice the player lindros was or still is. Not even in the same conversation one is a first ballat hall of famer next is maybe 20 years down the road. that said the price was steep. giving up 3 first rounders and the 3rd round pick. they win the cup it is a good trade they don't win bad trade. it was a block move mostly so detroit or anaheim didn't get him so codos to the management. what a 3rd line center!!! keep him fresh playing 13 minutes a game.

With the exception of the first round pick, I think both teams got a great deal out of this. Nashville wants to dominate the playoffs and Forsberg's experience and skill can more than help them get to the Cup Finals. Philly needs to rebuild and I can't think of two better players than Parent and Upshall to do so. If they can pick right with their new draft picks, the Flyers can be a contender again in a few seasons.

I don't think Forsberg wanted to be in Philly
so any trade was worth it, as long as whoever they got was capable of lacing up his skates and playing
Forsberg is a fantastic hockey player was like a fish out of water in Philly
Parent may also be the sleeper of the deal
There's a lot of potential there

A semi healthy Foresberg is gold to Nashville. Another wheel and deal play maker to give Kariya some room. If Peter can find a skate and keep his dome unrattled he will have an immediate impact(conditioning shoudlnt be too long). Foresberg is just one of those players that has a complete vision of the ice and hands that allow him to let things develope. If he cant find a skate then more lower body injuries will follow and he'll be golfing

forsberg is the captain of any crybaby team you want to make the lineup for.
Kariya is on it, as is lindros, bing crosby, and anyone else who can't stand to be checked and ultimately stopped from scoring.
the preds may go all the way in spite of forsberg, and he'll still whine about something.
I think the preds got him for insurance this season. was he worth it? in the long run, no. will he help them win? maybe.
