a geek is really smart and uncool. nerds are uncool and maybe smart or dumb.

Geeks don't have to be crazy intelligent, but they have to know alot about trivial things, like Star Trek, or the Matrix. Nerds just have to know something about anything and everything. A geek has more potential to be social. They just can't get over themselves. Nerds have no experience in social settings, except with other nerds. All nerds concern themselves with is their brain. Both are perverts, but a geek would actually go out and get some.

A geek has potential to improve and possibly up their status. A nerd will always be a nerd.

Geek is usually used to describe those who are technically savvy in something. ie Computer geek. Nerd is just an outcast really.

geek; not nessesarily smart but is still a computer freak, and it snooty about it, plays such things a D&D (dungeons and dragons)
nerd: same as a geek, just add an extreamly nasally voice, and very booksmart and not street smart. typically dresses bad. also shows up for class half an hour early 2 chat with the teacher.

A geek is someone who goes to the cottage with her friends on Canada day and brings her laptop to write up a report for a program she's taking over the summer while in University. (my girlfriend... her words, not mine) A nerd is someone who was never invited to the cottage for Canada day.
