Does anyone know of a novel with the theme identity? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, I'm not sure how old you are, but at a high school level "The Catcher In The Rye" by J.D. Salinger has an identity theme running throughout. You'll love it, too. There are also Betty Smith's "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn" and Carson McCullers' "The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter", both wonderful books with themes of identity. If you are looking for an identity theme geared more toward race try Toni Morrison's "The Bluest Eye" (a short book, but a brilliant one), Ralph Ellison's "The Invisible Man" or James Baldwin's "Go Tell It On The Mountain".

Enjoy!

Well, identity as a general theme is quite a broad subject, but if you're looking for books about sexual identity, then "Annie on my Mind" by Nancy Garden and "Am I Blue?" by Marion Dane Bauer and Beck Underwood are good places to start.

Coyote Blue by Christopher Moore

Heres the description off his website...

As a boy growing up in Montana, he was Samson Hunts Alone -- until a deadly misunderstanding with the law forced him to flee the Crow reservation at age fifteen. Today he is Samuel Hunter, a successful Santa Barbara insurance salesman with a Mercedes, a condo, and a hollow, invented life. Then one day, shortly after his thirty-fifth birthday, destiny offers him the dangerous gift of love -- in the exquisite form of Calliope Kincaid -- and a curse in the unheralded appearance of an ancient Indian god by the name of Coyote. Coyote, the trickster, has arrived to transform tranquillity into chaos, to reawaken the mystical storyteller within Sam . . . and to seriously screw up his existence in the process.

Moore's books are amazing!
