AFI album?

Question

which one should i get first? someone recommended them to me. i'm into more hardcore punk stuff, like Rise Against and Death By Stereo. and someone said that their last album was modern rock, so i'm wondering, which one should i buy first? is sing the sorrow any good?

Sing The Sorrow is a f*cking masterpiece. When that came out back in 2003, it was so different to what was going on in the music scene. It was a breath of fresh air with poetic lyrics, dark ambience and atmospherics. It was also genre-binding- "goth" punk. Two mighty different things that they managed to combine.

If you're new to them and you like DecemberUnderground, then I suggest you get it and work yourself back.

But you said you're into more hardcore punk so I suggest getting Answer That And Stay Fashionable. Good old AFI.

There's also Black Sails In The Sunset, my personal favourite. Actually, most fans consider this as their best album.

Then there's the Art Of Drowning. Still hardcore-punk but with poetic lyrics and still a shade darker.

Though I must say, it takes a while for these records to sink in. I must admit, the first time I listened to the ART Of Drowning and Black Sails, I thought they were crap! But the songs tend to grow on you. You just have to listen to them a few times and really get into the songs.

Even though you're into more hardcore-punk, I still think you HAVE to get Sing The Sorrow and then get Black Sails, then Answer That and then the Art Of Drowning.

well it depends, do you want to start at the beginning of AFI's first album or the newest one? all their albums are great, i haven't listen to their older ones yet, but I'm getting their. sing the sorrow is really amazing in so mean ways, well if you get this one you could get the CD and including the DVD, but you could get the December underground album, that was my first AFI album, it has Miss Murder on it, this album is amazing too, so it is your choice to get any AFI albums. their all unique, their all special. you won't be disappointed, in my opinion. i hope that you will join the club to be a fan of AFI here soon.

Sing the Sarrow is really good, but if you really want to understand AFI get DECEMBERUNDERGROUND first. Then you can get sing the sarrow, it just makes kore sense getting rhe newer album and then the older ones!
