In the 90's it was less than a dollar like 80 or 90 cents. And I know you said no times in 2000-2007 but I think it's really intersting...how when I started driving about five years ago I could fill my tank for less than $20 and now with the same car is more than double that...I wonder why...

Gas was about 40 cents a gallon when I started driving in the early 70s and cigarettes were 35 cents per pack.

When I was 10 years old in 1974 gas was about 50 cents a gallon.

I started driving in 1990. Gas was about $0.89 a gallon then. I remember going to the gas station and buying $0.75 worth of gas so that I could go out for the night. That would last me about two days.

I can remeber in high school paying $20 to fill up my pickup, and it had a 22.5 gallon tank, and required premium gas (93 octane!) You do the math. Then last year I was in San Diego paying almost $3 for a gallon of 87 octane...GEEZ!

I remember it at about $0.45 a gallon in the early 70s and my dad freaking out when it went up 1 cent.

In the early 70's in Florida,they had gas wars.The cheapest I seen was $0.22 a gallon.
