Stupid idea, only the most dangerous criminals should be put in prison, they should be in for their entire life, and while in should have work to do that will pay enough not only for their care but a surplus that can be used to help victims of crime. All others should be rehabilitated, no choice in the matter, they have to complete the program. They also have money taken from any earnings to help compensate victims of crime and pay for the running of programs that they are on. The government will of course need to make sure that there is work available for anyone who needs work.

Zero tolerance, one strike and you're out. Either life in prison with no parole or death penalty. Death penalty is best, since if you put them in prison then somebody has to watch them. Why risk the life of a prison guard, just kill the criminal and then they are no longer a threat to anyone. Simple, logical, effective.

Well, why don't we just have zero tolerance? Then if a person commits a crime, they would have to go to prison, instead of this probation crap.

The U.S. has the death pentalty for certain crimes, basically you cant get any worse than that and people still commit crimes. So, I dont think you can put anything else out there than is in our time to reduce crime. Maybe legalize weed, that might help.

I agree with the legalization of drugs. This would go a long way to reducing crime. But I do like the idea of public humiliation.

Death penalty for all parking offences, applied retrospectively for 50 years back.
Similarly for anyone illegally copying software, downloading, smoking in a prohibited place or at home.
No exemptions.
Death penalty for watching Big Brother too.
And for late returns of library books, having a noisy dog or wife and for spilling pints.
