Unfortunately there are many Americans who have a strong pride in nationalism. Nationalism is a person's strong pride in their country, usally military wise. No country should rule the world no matter how great a country may be. Don't get me wrong, sure America has many freedoms due to the fact that people vote through a democracy. But a democracy may not be good for the rest of the world. If the U.S. ruled the world, the rest of the world would be pretty poor. If you looked at the Roman Empire, the only people who really benefitted economically wise were the Romans. Americans would only think of themselves, as usual.

As I quote from Tears For Fears: "Everybody Wants To Rule The World". Now the honest truth is that everybody wants to run the world, it just happens to be US now. It's the honest truth that if the US wasn't running the world someone else would.
However just because a country runs the world doesn't it give them any right to exploit other countries resources or people or become greedy or selfish. Nor does it give it the right to bully other countries as well.
Some aspects of the US system can be emulated such as letting people own their own house and car (personal property), freedom of speech, seperation of church and state, supporting small businesses (trust me, it's better here than most of the developing nations), the checks and balances of the system, low taxes (in comparison to other developed countries), science and technology.
However there are some things I wouldn't want to be emulated like lack of a universal healthcare, the growing gap between rich and poor, the military industrial complex, mass consumerism, wastefulness (economical and non-economical), letting corporations run the country instead of the people.

You can't make a general statement like that without some proof. It is just your feeling not fact.
I want to live my life in peace and let other countries govern themselves. But if we are attacted we need to kick some ***.

You are sadly mistaken. The USA can't even run itself so how could it possibly run the world? Who's goal is that? The USA just does not want the world, or any part of the world, running it.

All the world would benifit if it copied the US system. In the last 40 years the US has brought down the old USSR and it's system of oppresion, opened up China to the modern world, and now is the only hope of man to beat back the death cult of islam. If the US shouldn't be first in the world who should be? the nigerians?

Yes! Why wouldnt we want to run the world? The US is the most stable place to live. We are free unlike alot of other places. I would hate to see China running the world. I hate that people complain about the US and act like its such a terrible place to be. Get OUT if you dont like it!

I would love it if The United States of America would run the world. It would save us the trouble of having to save the world every time people like Hitler, Tojo, and Ahmadinijad get out of control.

I'm sure there are a few, but not many. We aren't & haven't been trying to run the world. We are the most restrained superpower in history.

Yes there are loads of Americans who want US to run the world !!
But i don't feel any need of some 'world leader type nation" in this world........This world could be much better place to live if America let it go on its own instead of directing it !

Why would we want to run the world? Control certain aspects YES. How else can we control the freedom in our own country? I want to feel safe taking an airplane, going by train etc..... World peace is not realistic, it will not happen - being safe & secure in the US can happen!
