I must also say that clearcase is far from perfect. It's in fact a pain to work with it. Operations that should be trivial are very complicated and we spent a lot of time just fighting it.

Our team use clearcase, but i'm so tired of it, that I installed perforce locally and work with it for all my development until I need to check-in stuff.

We tried using it in two major investment banks. It failed miserably in both places, even with the constant help of a highly-paid consultant. It can do a lot. But it also has serious bugs and limitations. It is also far too complex.

I work at a major bank and it is used fairly extensively, and I don't know anyone who likes it - everyone just tolerates it. It's a great idea, just poorly executed. Among it's many problems, it ultimately just boils down to this: it's unnecessarily hard to use. I give it a 3.
