I don't know about Japan, but Chinese people are very polite and very nice to the foreigners. It depends on where you travel in china. If you go visit villages in china, they might check you out more because they don't get to see that many foreigners. Other major cities in china, there are a lot of foreigners. In my opinion, people in china are nicer and gave better service. I don't know where you get the racial abuse idea for the asian countries.

Its a mixed reaction based on skin color, the darker your skin the more you might get looked down on. Whites are perfectly fine, but for indians, and dark skinned asians, its a little harder. I lived in Hong Kong and traveled to China's Shenzen, Guanzhou, Beijing, and Harbin.

Was told by a friend in Hong Kong, "if you want to make a good impression, make sure to have atleast a Chinese girlfriend with you otherwise problems will occur". The girl itself means that you can be respected and wont look bad.

Its the opposite for Japan, My cousin lives in Osaka, and when I visited you could see the racial tension, If you aint Japanese you second class.

If you are going on a tour, then they won't hassle the group. I had no problems in China; money overcomes ALL prejudices (take lots of one dollar bills; Chinese merchants love hard currency, and they never have change (of course)).

I haven't been to Japan, but most Asian countries, like Vietnam & China, are poor. Your worst problem probably will be being overwellemed by attention, not by hostility.

this is rather no longer likely via fact it is going to intend dropping some dozen warheads and it might convey Japan into the "different" area against China. The chinese language have traditionally no longer been vengeful human beings. Witness how they dealt with their royal relatives after the revolution and assessment it with the western attitude. In China they have been jailed for some years, and then released and allowed to stay unmolested as basic voters. And inspite of what the Kuomingtang did to the communists for the period of the civil conflict, all is now forgiven as long as they do no longer commit the unpardonable sin of splitting China. you will desire to consult from actual chinese language human beings.

I went to Datong in China and everyone was great. When we went to Beijing the locals queued up in tianamin square to have their photo taken with my wife who is a blond haired wasp.
I never saw any hint of racialism. The good thing in China is they really do not have any big hang ups about religion which can sometimes cause more problems than race.
