It depends on the restaurant. If it's a "to go" kind of place, no. If it's a nice restaurant, I usually tip 10%. Taking your order, boxing up all your food and ringing up the bill isn't that much less than what a wait person would do. Remember, people who work in restaurants depend on tips for their wages. As far as take out pizza, probably not at the store, but I always tip a delivery driver!

I think it really depends on the type of place you are carrying out from.

If the food is meant to be picked up and carried out, the employees are paid (hopefully) appropriately hourly. If they made your experience nice and/or accomodated any special requests, a tip is a nice show of appreciation.

If you're ordering out from a regularly sit-down place, the person who takes your order is likely being paid less than minimum wage and is relying on tips for income. I would tip this person less than I would for sit-down service, but this person should definitely always get something!

Good question. I never tip when picking up from a pizza place. If I go in to pick something up, why should I tip them? When I have it delivered, I give the guy a tip. I also tip when I order from Car Side To Go at Applebees because they are coming outside in all kinds of weather to your car and it's still like they are waiting on you.

I don't tip when I pick up pizza. I've also had such rotten luck with tip jars that I've quit putting anything but change into them. (Everytime I put a buck in after I order, my order gets messed up.) The exception is that one taco place that will let me call in my order at closing time and unlocks the door to give me my order after closing--I take care of those guys.

No. It's no different than when you go to the corner store. You pay for your stuff and leave. The pizza guy is different though.

No, I don't tip. I have received no personal service. It is no different to buying goods in a store. You don't tip the shop assistants.

I do not think you need to tip them they are not bringing the food to you which they would get a tip but you are giving them your business.

i do not tip when i carry out food. that's ridiculous. it seems like everyone wants a tip now. starbuck's wants tips, coldstone creamery wants tips. i think only waitresses and delivery people need to get tipped.
