I bought a new big screen TV a couple of weekends ago, and now I have been browsing E-bay for some DVDs that will look cool on it. Anybody have some suggestions? I already of the following movies in my collection:
Brave Heart, The Gladiator, Lord of the Rings (all 3), Star Wars (all 6), Men in Black, Total Recall, Taladega Nights, Blade Runner.
I wanted to buy a copy of Top Gun, but my wife frowned on it, she can't stand Cruise.

Hi from Trinidad.....
Well as a wife myself, the Top Gun would be a tough seller but you can try a compromise. Ask her if you can buy Top Gun for you and The Lake House - (Keeanu Reeves & Sandra Bullock) for her. It's a beautiful movie. Let her see that you are considering her feelings (which you are) as well...
Trust me. My husband and I have a collection of 241 movies. So if you want a copy of our list, I'll be more than happy to send it to you. In the mean time get these:

Underworld Evolution
The Prince of Egypt - This will blow you away on that new HDTV.
Fearless - Jet Li
Fast & The Furious - Tokyo Drift - his favorite.
The Bourne Identity & Supremacy - Matt Damon

Those are just a few. Let me know if you want the list.
Take care

Don't let the wife win. Top Gun is one of the great all time movies.

Before I read your list of movies I was going to mention Gladiator. Awesome movie, and if you have surround sound even better. that noise they make when Russell Crowe stabs Phoenix in the throat is so cool.

Also try Terminator 2 or 3. Those are great big screen movies.

The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl would be cool. It has scenes in 3-D and you put on the 3-D glasses when it tells you too. Its pretty cool for a Disney movie. The DVD includes 4 pairs of the glasses with purchase.
