If you are in a sexuality crisis, would you seek out a licensed practitioner or visit a sexuality crisis center or seek help from an organization that provides sexuality counseling?

If you're a licensed practitioner, would you work for this kind of agency or organization? Would you donate time and money to this cause?

This would not be counseling to set people "straight" or "convert" them to be gay, it would be where people could come to get neutral advice, or "been there, done that" kind of help from people who are older and more experienced in life, and have already been where these kids are now. There would be an assortment of staff; those who are gay, straight, bisexual, a-sexual, transgendered, etc. The person could talk to one or more of the above mentioned "types" to help discover themselves.

I am a certified psychologist and I used to donate time to a local Teen LGTB&Q center.
These kids are confused, scared, many were victims of abuse or were thrown out of their own homes by unaccepting families. These kids are in crisis, many have turned to drugs, prostitution, even attempted suicide or have turned to actively become "bug-chasers" simply to end their personal suffering at the hands of cruel and disgusting people who have hard, cold hearts.

I'm in therapy right now, but it's not anything sexual. It's just dealing with life since i've came out. I've had to face a lot of rejection from family and friends and my counselor helps me to see things more clearly. She's an Lesbian, but there's also straight counselors there also. The counseling center i go to tries to match up counselors with what you need. I asked for a Lesbian Counselor and that's what i got. I wanted someone who could identify with me and what i'm going through. She's an excellent counselor and she has helped me through some really rough patches, because of her i'm becoming a better person.

Sure, I'd be glad to help the communities. There was someone on LOGO a while back talking about how our LGBT youth feel so detached and out of the community. It's sad to think that we've been fighting for decades for equality, and yet the fight could go downhill in a generation if we leave our youth behind. If we don't embrace them. Teach them the community's past, their past, and help them learn to accept themselves and make the most of life.
