Anyone heard the urban legend about Mr. Rogers being a sniper in the army with confirmed kills during the Korean War?

I seriously doubt it. He had a full academic education and did not receive any military instruction. There is no 20/20 show admitting that he was a sniper. He was simply a normal person who cared about the community. I doubt that such a nice and caring person adored by children and adults alike around the world would have killed anyone.

Fred Pogers never served in the military. Rumors to this effect have been completely discounted as being false on urban legend verification websites. Not only is military service not mentioned in any biographies about him, but there wasn't a period of time, unaccounted for, where he could have been involved in war efforts. During most of the Vietnam conflict, he was fully dedicated to his television show Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and before that, around the start of Vietnam, he was living and working in Canada, and was working on getting rights for his show and moving it to Pittsburgh. His mother knitted all his sweaters and he wore them to look non-threatening to children.

Fred Rogers never served in the military. That legend was just that, a legend. There are no gaps in his career from high school to college to television.

I do know that he was an Army Ranger so it is completely possible.

EDIT
I stand corrected. I looked it up and he has no military training. Guess I was mistaken about what "I KNOW" .

Yeah it's true I asked my Grandparent about it and they said they saw something on 20/20 about it. He also has tatoo's on both arms (sleeves) that's why he always wears long sleeves on all his shows even in the winter go figure.
