In Spain you would. In the whole of Europe licences are categorized by size/weight

A1 for motorbikes up to 125cc

A for all other motorbikes with or without sidecar

B for cars and vans up to 3,500 kg

C1 for vans and trucks up to 7,500 kg

C for all trucks

D1 for busses carrying up to 16 passengers

D for all busses

E licences cover cars, busses and trucks with trailers

Come to think of it, I don't remember if a plain B licence allowed for attatching a small trailer or not (up to 750 Kg as long as the combined weight of car and trailer do not surpass 3,500 kg)

To drive a Taxi you must be at least 21.

If you passed your drving test prior to 1st January 1997 then you would have the C1 entitlement to drive up to 7.5 tonnes. If you passed after that date you will only have Cat B entitlement on it to drive up to 3.5 tonnes. If you only have Cat B on your licence and you wanted to drive a 7.5 tonner, then i would suggest you just take the Cat C test, which is the LGV licence for a rigid vehicle, as you'd nearly pay as much for the C1 (7.5 tonner) so you may as well get your LGV . If you were under 21 then you would have to pass your C1 test before you could go for you Cat C test.

If you passed your test before 1998 then you automatically can drive these vehicles.Look at your license i believe you need C1E to qualify.
