I have two theories about the Stig: 1. He is a robot. 2. There isn't anyone inside the suit. But, we'll never know:(

The black stig was Perry McCarthy until he revealed it was him so they 'killed' him off when he drove off an Air Force Carrier.
The new white stig is actually several different drivers depending on availability because the new Stig has a much larger role in the series. Julien Bailey, Damon Hill and Mark Webber are all believed to of been 'the stig' in recent years.

spooky, but some guys were talking about this the other day and one claims to have met the current stig at some tv bash.
He apparently is a very accomplished driver but is not a household name - best I can do

Some say that he was a CIA experiment that went wrong, and he likes cheese. But all we know is he's called The Stig.

This is no use at all but I know someone that is involved in motor sport and he did tell me once. The problem is that I have forgotten his name!! I can tell you though that he is an ex-racing driver and was apparently very good.
