A doctor visit costs money, and if someone doesn't have insurance, they might want to see if they are likely to be pregnant before paying for an office visit. Also, sometimes people are too anxious and want to find out, but sometimes it takes time to get a doctor appointment. I don't know. It seems to me that the quickest way to find out if a woman is pregnant is just to go buy a pregnancy test. You can get them for under $10 and they are almost 100% accurate. You can even take some of them up to 5 days before you are even late (you get more accurate results if you wait until you are late however). Good question!

They went to government school, and suddenly it is clear that they did not learn what they needed to know. Why should you have to pay a doctor for basic knowledge, that you should have learned long ago?

I would say most that ask that are young girls. I hate when I see that question, cuz how would we know? They need to go to doc to find that out for sure. Id be embarrassed to ask that on here.*

Maybe they want to compare people's answers first before they decide to go straight to the prof.
They just don't want things to go so easy.
