But, Edward Scissorhands is a kind gentle soul. The movie is perfect just the way it is. He would have made for a good horror movie, but that's so cliche. I love that they didn't use the character in that way.

And, although I think Johnny Depp is an excellent actor, I don't like the movie because Johnny Depp plays the role. Knowing he is in a movie might encourage me to watch it, but it wont be the reason I like the movie. That's so gay.

No I don't think so because Edward was a good guy. But I live in DC and you are not going to believe this they have turned it into a stage play that is now on tour at the Kennedy Center. Can you believe that s--t! I would have rather seen it as a horror flick.

Peace

Edward Scissorhands is one of my most favorite movies... I wouldn't have it changed for the world. I loved that Edward was such an innocent sweetheart despite the scary image he presented to the world.. and the tragedy that he was treated based on this appearance rather then his character. It's such an obvious message but still, its beautiful.

Besides, if you want a scary movie about a freak with knives attached to his hands there's always Freddy Krueger and Nightmare on Elm Street.

Tim Burton's whole idea of Edward was a fable about someone with special talents, who's perceived as a freak by everyone around him, and how eventually, he has to learn to live by himself to be true to his nature, even if to do so, he has to leave behind love.

Making edward into a horror film would have defeated the whole point of the fable.

no. i like the original set u of the movie. the romance sci-fi thing genre really works for the film. as a horror movie, it would've seemed too forced and strange. i like the movie a lot and so do other people because mainly it has johnny depp in it and because it is NOT a typical wierd horror film!
