I have an older XP that I replaced with a Vista Notebook. Can I remove the old hard drive and make an external hard drive from it?

If you're talking about a harddrive from a desktop...yes you can. I have done it a couple of times. You can purchase an external harddrive enclosure (Tiger direct sells several brands) that usually connect to the computer via a USB port. The prices vary from around 39.00 on up. You need to know whether IDE or SATA type connections...but chances are the old HD is IDE. This set up works quite well.

Yes it can.. I'm not sure what you call it.. But there's a box/device that you can install your hard drive into.. And then the box itself connects to your computer through your USB port.

Ask around strores like Best Buy, Circuit City. etc., Get a generalized price.. Then goto resale shops and see if they sell the same items for a cheaper price.

Sure you can...just go get an external drive enclosure and it will mount right in there hook up to USB port. That is how I have my 300GB external drive hooked up myself...I bought the drive and the enclosure separately. Those run about $20 to $25.

No, it's an internal harddrive, and external hard drive connects through USB.
