When i asked the receptionist why, all she said was she has a note saying to come back in 1 month for a blood pressure. If they found something irregular in my papsmear results she should have mentioned it right?and the doctor should call?.can it be just the blood pressure?.any help would be really appreciated.thanks

I'd call the doctor's office back and ask to speak to a nurse. They really should give you details instead of worrying you.

This is so scary when doctors offices do this to us. I've had this happen on several occasions and each time I still get nervous. Sometimes there's a discrepancy on the readings so to make sure the technician will contact the dr's office with the results and a test needs to be run again. I've had this done with both pap smears and mammograms. Personally, I don't think the receptionist should be giving out any information so for your own piece of mind call back and ask to speak to a nurse or have the dr. call you back himself. I did, you'll feel a whole lot better. Good luck to you!

It is unlikely that they would have the results from your Pap smear so quickly anyway--they usually seem to take about a week. Did you find out what your b/p was when you went to your dr. visit? Did your dr. mention that it seemed elevated? Usually for an adult, anything below 130 on the top number is not of concern, anything below 75-80 on the bottom number is not of concern, although lower is better (provided it's not too low).

If it were something wrong with your pap, they would have told you about it. Why don't you call your dr's office and ask for the doctor to call you and explain that you are worried. Often staff at dr's offices (and dr's themselves) see something as "routine", not realizing that for patients, they are creating a great deal of anxiety and worry over a condition. Let them know how you feel! You, after all, are the consumer here, and there's an assortment of dr's you can choose to go to. They need to be a little more "user friendly" sometimes.

If it was really serious she would not wait for a month to see you again, the receptionist is not authorized to give out any info... and doctors never tell you anything over the phone.Your blood pressure was either high or low at the time of your visit so she wants to wait it out and see the next time you come in how it is.Do not worry really a month is a long time to put off something serious which means it's nothing!TAKE CARE!!!

You pap results are not back yet if you just had it two days ago. Your blood pressure must have been elevated so they just want to keep a watch on it. I would by home blood pressure device and check it at the same time every day and write down the results to take with you to the docs next time.

Unless you have a really crappy doctor, they would have told you if there was something irregular as soon as they found it. I would'nt worry too much. If you just can't help but be worried just call the doctor and talk specifically to her... screw the receptionist. It's your health and you have a right to know what the heck is going on... Hope everything is ok. Good luck.

Dont worry if anything at all showed up she would tell you if anything did they would get you back asap not let the problem get worse for an extra month, probably just a blood pressure check
