I see so many people walking with their new babies with their head exposed to the sun, isn't it better to keep a hat on their head?

Personally I think they are nuts! Baby skin is sensitive. I get sun burn so I would assume the baby would burn faster. When it's cold, that's where heat comes off the body fastest so they need a hat.

yes definately do. in the summer unless you give it sun screen, i would put a sun hat or baseball hat on a baby. then in the winter definately a hat, everyones head need to be warm you loose some percent of body heat just because your head isn't covered i think.

I have 3 redheads, so my kids always wear hats. Sometimes it takes time to find the right hat that is comfortable, but it's so much better to have the sun off their baby skin.

100 % yes. babies and toddlers should always wear a hat when outdoors. in the summer tho, if it's really super hot and you plan to be outside for awhile, skip the hat and just apply sunblock as instructed on the bottle even if the child hasn't been swimming...it can very easily sweat off.

Yes, your child should always wear a hat when going out side until there are at least one year. In the winter they need it to keep their heat in and in the summer they need it to keep cool and it helps with skin diseases from the sun.

You're right!!! Babies have very little hair on their heads to protect them from the sun. Also, when it's cold out, that is where they loose most of their body heat. Hats are a very important part of a babys layette and they should always sport them when out doors.

Yes newborn babies and all babies should have a hat on in the winter and spring months and they should be covered up real good to prevent colic and a cold

I think yes. First of all it is proven that most heat in human bodies escapes from our heads, and besides they look very cute with a hat on! I also had an older lady that would insist that I put an undershirt on my children.

If it's sunny, a lightweight hat wouldn't hurt. But my son simply refused to wear one. I finally gave up. If we were going to be out, I'd just pull the cover up on the carseat or slather his little bald head with sunscreen.
