If you are sure you followed the directions properly and you didn't ovulate by day 16, then I suggest going to see your doctor and inform them of this. If you ovulate too late in your cycle, you won't be able to conceive. The luteal phase, which is the time between ovulation and the first day of your next period, has to be at least 11 days in order for a fertilize egg to implant properly. I have a luteal phase defect because I didn't ovulate until day 18 of a generally 28-29 day cycle. I had a miscarriage my first pregnancy because of this. My OB prescribed Clomid to help me ovulate earlier and then progesterone from day 16 to the end of my cycle, or the end of my first trimester if I got pregnant. It worked for me because I have one healthy daughter and I'm 10.5 weeks pregnant again. Best of luck.

If you would have ovulated around 17th or 18th day the ovulation test would have shown positive at day 16. The test measure the LH surge and ovulation is expected to happen within 24-48 days following that.
It is not unusual to ovulate right after your period or later in the cycle or even to skip a cycle. The best thing is to have sex in every 2-3 days after your period stopped till about a week before you are expecting your period. The sperm can live up to 3 days - to be on the safe side - or longer in your body, so you cover your bases. I think ovulation strips are just a waste of money and makes you obsess over the whole thing. And that does not help with getting pregnant.
If you find that you ovulate very late in your cycle, less than 10 days before your period, talk to your doctor. It makes it hard or impossible for the fertilized egg to implant.

If you think that you are ovualting a little later than the test says you should I would buy two OPK's (enough sticks for 14 days) this will give you a more accurate answer. Remember if you ovualte on day 17 then with would show positive on the test around day 15 or 16. The test predicts the surge that happens 24-48 hours before ovualtion. It may show that your surge is on the 17th day which would mean you actually ovualte on the 19th day. Remember...every woman is different. It is not bad to ovulate leter in your cycle..it just makes it a little harder to find at first. Good Luck!

Are you sure you are ovulating? If so do you notice the test line changing at all, is it getting a little darker each day? The letual phase is always around 14 days, so I don't think if you have a 28 day cycle that starting the test on day 17 would help. Do you watch for other signs like CM, this may help. Otherwise maybe you should check to see if you are ovulating.

What kit are you employing? Is it the CLearblue fertility computer screen? if so then the 1st cycle you utilize that it soetimes does not prepare a "top" as that's employing the innovations from the 1st cycle to foretell the optimal time so which you are able to apply the sticks interior the destiny. despite if that's a common digital kit (with the smiley face) then re-study the instructions and spot in case you're employing it on the ultimate time of day etc. additionally in case you have been TTC for 2 years it may be time to flow alongside on your well-being care provider and get some effortless hormonal tests run. regrettably basically given which you have customary classes does not propose you're ovulating. I truthfully have a customary menstrual cycle yet chanced on that i did no longer ovulate each cycle. ultimate of success

Ovulation strips are air sensitive, be sure to keep the vial tightly closed to ensure the test is working. Try a more sensitive device like the clear blue monitor. Pay attention to change in your vaginal secretions as they grow thicker and stringy around your ovulation days. When you see something like that take note of the day count and test around those days the next period.
Best of luck!
