An interesting thought! I doubt it though--there's no need to quarantine us, since we don't have technology that would enable us to leave the solar system.
But you do have a point. I f it were me, Iwouldn't let us run around loos until we learn some manners.

This question is known as "The Fermi Paradox".
Consider--If the universe is much older than it needs to be to support several generations of intelligent species, and it is certainly large enough for many to exist at the same time, and assuming life and habitable planets are a natural occurrence given time, energy and building material... then "where are they?" as Enrico Fermi asked about 50 years ago.
Seems like they should have visited us or we should be easily able to pick up their radio broadcasts.
Many books have been published and many theories advanced to answer the question, but I suspect that interstellar distances are just so huge and travel so difficult it keeps us apart.
Other ideas; perhaps we ARE being visited (UFO's), perhaps we are being observed and they ARE all around us but we are just so primitive we cannot detect them, or maybe we are in some sort of "wildlife preserve" set up by extraterrestrials so that we are not interfered with until we mature, or perhaps we are such a savage and dangerous race we have been quarantined (...and will soon be exterminated so the threat is eliminated?).
Perhaps as races grow older and survive killing each other off they discover immortality and don't go exploring or contacting anymore as its just too dangerous; they are the "Lotus Eaters" and sit around all day plugged into their computers and contemplating their navels.
...OR, and this is the one that BLOWS my mind... the universe is ours for the taking as we are the only intelligent race.

Perhaps the distance is so great they have yet to detect us because it takes generations to scan the entire night sky for them also, and detect life bearing planets.
Remember, violence is also relative to one's conception of violence and peace, just as good and evil are.
Look at how our bodies attack invading organisms, others do this also. Look at how the insect world attacks other colonies, for example. We are no more violent than they are, other than using devices to speed up the process. So it is very feasible the stuff that created us, created other races as well, and many of them have not evolved, and of those that have not all of them survived their own demise.
Then again, it is just as possible that there are advanced life forms out there but have absolutely no interest in us because we are the ants compared to themselves, and we serve only as a lab study for them. Perhaps they don't even, and never have had any interest in the space about their planet, and beyond. Their interest could be the opposite, efforts being made to remain isolated in their section of space, concentrating on making their place better for their citizens, rather than spreading their discord throughout the universe.

confident, whether it is quite no longer likely: First, it has to get into the area. The satellites around our planet are crammed with micro organism, however the area probes that we deliver into area are sterilised (so as that the probes degree significant records). 2nd, it has to depart the planet and the photograph voltaic equipment. those sterile probes are destined there yet what orbits Earth continues to be close to Earth. 0.33, it has to truthfully meet the planet. If the object lacks any propulsion, it may besides finally end up interior a celebrity. whether it in trouble-free terms gets close to the celebrity, the temperatures there are particular to kill any existence and the probe. probability is greater beneficial for a piloted vessel, yet having mentioned that, those would be sterile. yet another selection would be people vacationing there, yet that ain't gonna ensue quickly. we are no longer even vacationing to the moon anymore (yet we nonetheless dream approximately construction a mining colony there).

how interesting..
one part of a good story is in how many different actors can you put on the stage. i have always thought that mankind and the earth evolved in different epochs that were induce by different types of visitation by different groups at different times.
one time line involves the natural progression of man from the soup to the walking stage. along this time line a group of advanced beings transporting some prisoners crash landed on this world, intermixing with the local inhabitants. another group came by a little later and dropped some colonists. still another group dropped some more colonists. each group wanted to remain alone and separate, until population pressure finally enabled the groups to start interacting with each other.
it would make one heck of a story wouldn't it?

Well, that sign on the backside of the Moon, the one that says, "Keep Away" in standard Galactan, was quite a giveaway...
Until we have the practical capability to send a colony of humans to another star system, I don't think the conscientious elder species of the galaxy would care what we do to ourselves.

Sort of like Earth is the Australia of the Milky Way? That would explain a lot.
(For you non-history majors, Australia was originally a prison colony for England)

Entirely possible. But probable? No. We are in the back alley of the galaxy. Plus, we don't even have FTL capabilites. Why would anyone care? It isn't really feasible to move the universe until we get FTL travel, so it shouldn't bother them anyway...

Doubtful, there is no evidence for such a thing, and nothing prevents us from shooting off probes into the far reaches of the solar system.

Creepy. Its possible that advanced races are just not bothering with us because we are too violent. We don't have anything they need... yet.
