Yes. Campaign season should start in November of the year before the election, not a day before.

I think we need almost 2 years (well, maybe 18 months might have been enough but some candidates always want to have extra time to raise their millions) They need to hold some actual debates! The Democrats and Republicans need to pick their actual candidate first, and then the two need to hopefully hold some actual debates, and then they have to hold a general election after that. And there will inevitably be some election problems to straighten out, trying to get everyone some kind of paper trail hopefully (so we can avoid the Sarasota incident this past year where they lost 18,000 votes with no paper trail for a recount. Oops!)
I stress I would like lots of actual debates, lots of questions asked and answered in depth. I remember last election they had so many candidates there was one debate I watched where the candidates were limited to less than a minute, something like 30 seconds for their answer. It was a joke! They need to have at least a few minutes to answer a question! Although of course some kind of limit -- these are politicians I realize!!!

I agree. I HATE campaign years. I think some people just love politics but I don't. I get sick of all the negative ads and the dirt. I wish all the candidates would just fill out a standardized form where all the issues are listed and they could just check where they stand on each. If you listen to the speeches, lots of times they use a lot of words but never really answer the questions. Yes or no. That's all I want to know. Also, I'd like to see their criminal records and any military records if applicable. That's all. Then everyone just shut up and let me vote. Thanks for a great question and for letting me vent.

No because the media needs to keep confusing everyone and making sure that the only thing important in the next election is if it will be a female or black as the next president.

What else would we even talk about if not the many possible outcomes, no matter how ridiculous? The weather? Sports? American Idol? American media consumers get what they demand and apparently, we all love 'news' about the 30 people who are going to lose the election visiting farmers in Iowa more than we want news about genuine issues.....

Who cares about the next president! They really don't make improvements and they don't have final say. I want every OLD MAN and WOMAN who are in office gone! These people with old views from the past don't really apply in today's world. We need the next generation of young and smart with modern views in office.
Thats my POD
As to your question
It's a good idea to find out two years earlier who our next president is going to be. We need enough time to ask questions and there personal views.

They need a running start in order to spend all of that "needed" campaign money. It's like Christmas in July.
