i just logged into my hotmail and it told me my account had be reserved and said something like "click to activate".. i wanted to read my email so i clicked it.. and now i have no mail except for the welcome to hotmail one.... what happened?

Oh, wow.. that sucks.. i lost one of my distant friend's email address and i have no way of contacting her now...

Have you logged into it within the last 30 days? I believe the Microsoft Hotmail policy is to clear out inactive accounts after some period of time (30 days I think). If you hadn't used it recently, then all email and contacts are probably gone. They may have an option to recover it if you buy the "paid" account but beyond that, the terms of service state their policies.
