Change the Engine Oil, change the Oil Filter, change the Air filter, noting the condition whilst doing this, if this doesn't work check the valve clearances and perform a compression test.
if the gauge pumps up on test the valves are not seating properly and the Cylinder Head will require overhauling, a diesel has not got a spark to help it along so if the valves are not seating or the piston rings are U/S it will retaliate by pushing out higher emissions, diesel heads require overhauling about every 100,000 miles.

Hi.
There is a company called Lucas (big company) that sells a fuel additive called "tune-up in a bottle". One of the suppliers is a company called MotaQuip. It was recommended to me a few years ago by an extremely talented mechanic. I have used this stuff (full bottle in 1/2 tank of fuel) and it has an amazing effect. Every other additive that I have used has either been complete rubbish or not far off it. This stuff improves fuel mileage and reduces emissions. I am an electronics engineer that happens to do all of his own car servicing and repairs, so I have absolutely no reason to promote this stuff, other than on its own merit. Friends of mine have had diesel cars failing MOTs on emissions and have put this stuff in, on my recommendation, taken the car back three days later and have passed the MOT with ease. I put it in my car (Citroen Xantia 1.9 TD) and the car has exceptional MPGs and low emissions, even considering that it has done 160,000 miles!
Unless your car is buggered then I give you my word that this stuff will work.

Vegetable oil, seriously I know this is not strictly legal but I have a friend who put his jeep in for an mot and it was running on 50/50 diesel/veg oil and the tester had a quite word with him after and told him not to do that again at mot time, mate asked him how he knew and he said because there were next to no emmissions!

Deisel emissions come from way more than your vehicle. Industry plays a large part as well. So why pick on the little guy - you? Because there are so many private vehicles that to bring them all under some kind of control is a significant victory.
Why is it important?

See what is in those emissions.

I read a poster suggested adding cooking oil. I think it needs to be converted into bio-fuel or it will block the diesel pump. The process of making bio-diesel from cooking oil is quite simple but obviously you declare every litre and pay the appropriate fuel tax. ...................
Yours Mr Brown.
PS next time take the car on a fast 70mph thrash down the motorway to clean out the injectors. Then go and have an MOT.

green house gases are a misnomer. If we were truly believe the science, this world would have destroyed itself when all we burnt was wood and coal in the dark ages. really think about that. We give off c02 when we breathe. plants, trees, and forest all give off o2. they need it for food making. The world getting hotter and cooler in cycles. it currently is in a down cycle trend. has been for the last 10 years. and yes Diesel is better because it burns more cleanly and gives off mostly water vapor. Just like everything. Your green house gas is water vapor. Water without which none of us would be alive.

Try adding Redex first £1.49 for a bottle that'll do 1 full tank, then if that fails you can't beat Forte - really works!- it's just over £8.00 a bottle, but enough for 100 litres - it's a Sought African product, but you can contact the u.k. website on:
www.forteuk.co.uk
or e-mail them on
technical@forteuk.com
Techincal helpline - 024 7642 1131
We have just added it to our 'L' reg diesel Ford Escort and it whipped through the M.O.T.
You can be assured it really works.

I love both fruits and fresh vegetables better, regardless how they look and taste. You desire a little of both.

In the event it's a fruit they have seeds, otherwise it's a vegetable. And vegetables are usually grown in the ground while fruits are grown in trees.

If you know someone in the motor trade try and get hold of a diesel additive called Forte. If not , try adding Redex to your fuel.
