then is chainsawdust a single word or would it have to be 2 or 3 words?

It would be better to simply take a new tack to the situation. One could say "the sawdust from the chainsaw," for example. With that said, chainsaws don't really produce very much dust at all, unlike most type of saws do. Chainsaws cut/rip small slivers of wood in succession, thereby making something considerably larger than dust.

chainsaw sawdust, it doesn't roll off the tounge very well but imo thats the proper way to say it...

i think it would have to be
chainsaw dust
or
chainsaw's sawdust

this is because while sawdust is one word, chain wouldnt be able to stand on its own like
chain sawdust.
