My son (who is 10) reckons Indiana Jones, I say Schindler's List.

There's so many.
Jaws, Close Encounters, Raiders, E.T., The Colour Purple, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, Minority Report, Munich.
But Schindler's List towers over all of them as his undisputed masterpiece.
Uncompromisingly harrowing, and one of the best films ever made.
I'm a huge fan of Spielberg, and for me, he will never better Schindler's List.

Schindler's List, with Saving Private Ryan a close 2nd. It's understandable that a 10 year old would pick Indiana Jones, though.

SCHINDLER'S LIST is one of the best movies ever made, in all categories---history, visual beauty, acting, storyline, characters, etc. It's just plain interesting, and it's all on the same level. Strangely enough, it's a very "Christian" film, nearly a religious allegory that has nothing to do with the Jewish faith.

Lots of interesting things in other Speilberg films----gorgeous war sequence at the end of SAVING PRIVATE RYAN that will never be equalled, though the film is weak over all.

Schindler's List is great and who could forget Jurassic Park, but I would have to say A.I. was a very unique movie as well. Although your son makes a good point.

BUT... He is the Executive Producer of the NEW Transformers movie, so I will reserve my final judgement until I see that. He has always been on the cutting edge of film, and I think every movie he makes strives to meet high expectations. We have come to expect great movies from him because he has made so many. I cannot choose just one.

Schindler's list, (adults) Close encounters and Indiana Jones two great family movies, but there again most of his movies are good. Schindler's list still sends a shiver down my spine, only film that ever had me reduced to tears. And still does when I watch it.

It's a toss up between Schindler's List and The Color Purple.

That's a toughy! I know which one that I consider his worst and that is A.I. By the way, does your son know that Harrison Ford has just signed on with Spielberg to do another Indiana Jones?

I would have to say Close Encounters of a Third Kind, the special effects are great and no matter what is on or how tired I am I can watch the whole movie. Also ET the extra terrestrial rocks!! my favorite movie from childhood!!
