No.
Each state, to receive federal funds under the Child Abuse and Prevention Act, is required to develop policies and procedures to address the needs of newborns affected by illegal drug abuse or prenatal exposure. Hospitals generally develop their own policies and procedures in connection with this, and testing of newborns would be limited to those meet some clinical criteria that makes drug exposure/withdrawal suspected. But newborns are not, as a matter of course, tested for drugs.

No. However, if the Dr or nurses see ANY signs of withdrawal, they are legally obligated to test the baby with or without parental consent. If the tests come back positive, the infant will be placed with Children's Services until the mother can be tested.
I am worried why you are asking this question. If you are pregnant and using drugs, please consider the health of your unborn child and GET HELP.
As far as some of the others saying that all babies are, I know FOR A FACT, as I reviewed her records, my 9 month old daughter was NOT drug tested. We live in Kentucky, perhaps it varies from State to State. I guess that it also could be because I had every blood test known to man due to the fact that I had horrible migraines and preeclampsia in my last trimester. Since my blood was clean, perhaps they naturally assumed the baby was too.
All my prayers

If your baby is born, and you have been doing drugs...the baby will go through withdraw and get very sick. You would need to tell them what drug(s) you were doing prior to the birth so they can save the baby. And there are a lot of long term effects meaning that even if your baby is born and looks fine, years later at 10yrs old they could develop learning problems and things like that.

Not at all. They will only be tested if there is a possibility of the mother being a drug user and using while she was pregnant. If she had been using she would be endangering the life of the child and the child would possibly be removed from the mothers custody.

It depends on a few things like did you tell your doc that you use drugs? Do they have a reason to be suspicious and also it depends on the hospital. Some check every child but I live in a rural area and only a few children get checked. Mine didn't get checked and I am glad for it if ya know what I mean:}

Just the ones where the mother is a drug addict. They test to see if the baby is born addicted, and if he has any drug related problems

Where i am from all babies are tested for drugs. It is a precautionary measure to ensure that babies are taken care of when they go home and will be in a safe environment

Only if they are showing sign of prenatal exposure to drugs. Then they do it and if there is a positive result. Child services is called and the child is placed into foster care.

No.
They only check the baby if there is a strong suspicion (or actual knowledge) that the mother has been using drugs.
