Wow, I haven't thought of Thundercats in a long time! My personal favorites are Zoids (the original series), Captain Planet, Avatar, and I can't think of anything right now other than, I hate to say it, Sponge Bob!

Well if your talking about popularity and rememberance than there are a select few that break that mould.

DragonBall (Z, and GT)
Doraemon
SailorMoon (I think this is still popular)
AstroBoy (First manga in Japan was Astroboy)

If you compare it to Disney or Warner Brothers, they dont compare. as the popularity of this American exports never made a large enough trademark to be marketed in the Eastern world. only thing that did well is Mickey Mouse and thats run its course since most kids are now into their own countries cartoons.

Southpark officially broke the mould to show that anything can go in cartoons and even further.

Of course Simpsons is going to win this argument as it was probably the first real cartoon series aimed at young adults and not kids.

The Simpsons (of course) and Invader Zim are my favorite American cartoons! My favorite anime, though, is Naruto... I know you probably weren't talking about that, though.
