What can we do so people can be more open minded about eachother and not judge eachother by what shows on the surface?

In a metaphorical sense how could we all wear hijabs?
(Hijab means cover up, and are worn so people don't gawk at women but instead get to know them as a person)

I am getting so tired of everybody categorizing and labeling people and not even knowing them.

I encourage anyone answering this question to read it through. If you wish to reinforce the point of this question then go ahead but I am using Hijab as a metaphore.

I don't think that men gawk at women all the time, maybe the prettiness has the first attraction but then the mentality comes-up to reveal whether if that one is just a pretty dumb woman or an intelligent one.

"hijab is for everyone" doesnot literally mean to get to know the inner personality instead of what shows externally. The basic purpose of hijab is to guard the modesty of a human being and to prevent the devilish acts. Hijab is for both man and woman. The Quran says in Surah nisa, " and say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty. and say to the believeing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty."
Actually hijab is not something to make us feel subjugated and supressed. it prevents women from being mollested and prevents a man from having evil thoughts. its not just about covering all your body. its about the hijab of mind and soul as well. Lowering ones gaze and ejecting evil thoughts out of the mind are also very important elements of hijab.
Imagine if there are twin sisters-equally beautiful but one wears an islamic hijab( all body parts covered-loose fitted clothes and only the face and hands are showing) the other wears a mini skirt and a short tight -fitted top. Both walk on the street and there is a group of hooligans standing in the corner. who do you think the man will tease or try to mollest? the answer is crystal clear. Ofcourse the one wearing the western dress.
It is clear from the above example that one can protect the modesty and prestige of oneself wearing the Islamic Hijab.
Furthermore, if we analyse, we see that the rape rate in Saudi Arabia is the lowest and in thewestern countries it's the highest for e.g. in USA.One of the prime reason for this is the hijab in Saudi Arabia. There it is compulsory for every women to practice the islamic hijab.
Not only in Islam but in other major religions such as Christianity and Hinduism-it is mentioned that women should put a veil, lower their gaze and guard their modesty. Its just a matter of a little research which can make one understand the true meaning and long term advantage of Hijab.

And wearing a tent over your head helps in what way? Ask the women in Afghanistan and other Islamic countries who find wearing the hijab a real problem and burden. If you don't like the way people judge your appearance, isn't this a good thing? It gives you a measuring stick to judge THEM by . And start mixing with people who share your own viewpoints.
I'd rather that than fall flat on my face because I couldn't see where I was going.

To be honest, there is nothing we can do but show our true selves to the world. I am a muslim and I do understand where you are coming from. Parent's can force their daughters to wear it, but few parents don't. It's the society we live in today that make people more americanized and not involved in their own culture. It's sad, yes, but what can we do? The parent's are falling into it as well! The only way we would all be able to wear hijabs is if we were all Muslims. But that's not the case now is it? We just have to be involved with ourselves and our family. It's nice that you want everyone to wear hijabs, but you CAN try to talk to family members who don't wear it yet. Good luck! Spread the word of Islam to the world and God will help you with everything need to want!

Metaphorically, even the half naked girls on the beach always wear hijabs, as do most people, putting on a show in public, pretending to be what they think others want them to be..
