I am pretty tired of people not thinking logically about things. I've come to find that the biggest reason for it is just ignorance. People just are informed and don't understand facts. Also, another large contributer to blocking logic seems to be bias. I don't understand how someone could fefuse to listen to someone elses arguments and refuse to accept that there could be any other answer to something than ther own. What are some things that you think block the use of logic.

P.S.
My reason for making this is because I have found that people on here use less and less logic everyday.

Emotion is also a big block for some people. When you are emotionally caught up in a subject or let it affect you in that way, it can be difficult to be logical or think clearly and realistically.

You're right - a lot of the answers (and oddly, even some of the questions) are illogical - what's more, people don't respond well when you point out their fallacies in logic.

As you've already pointed out, the reason behind illogical thinking seems to be multifactorial. I agree with the above answers - passion/strong emotion definitely hurts someone's ability to think logically. Pre-formed biases, as you said, are definitely another factor. I think, too, that people aren't really educated/trained to think logically. To some extent, rational thought needs to be taught - I remember learning about logical though processes in high school, but I'm pretty sure that the majority of students didn't get that, or at least didn't pat attention to it.

Your observations are sound. Another reason is that, having a preconceived notion, a person may not realize that logic is needed, or be unwilling or unable to spend the time to apply it. We see this all the time in the Religion and Spirituality forum, where the lack of logic of some of the answers is quite appalling.

wow man you're absolutely right, i see it get worse everyday also.
i'm just begining to think that most people in this world lack knowledge and common sense. the world is getting more and more stupid every minute.
this might have to do with all the technology we live around now a days... people have so many things that do stuff for them that they are barely even required to think anymore.

Emotions and their significance tied to certain events for people. Behaviors are repeated without any analyzing of why.
