Social workers. There's a shortage in the UK at the moment, and though their job is unbelievably hard, it can also be rewarding. Some agencies in London are advertising at £25 per hour, and you can work around your schedule.
If you're in it for the money, do not go to a local authority - they'll pay less than an agency. You'll have less benefits than a local authority job, but more flexibility.
Other job categories where there is a shortage are occupational therapists and transport planners.

What you study is not very important - how you study is the determining factor. Almost any study can lead you to a lot of money if you study it hard and if you have talents. Check your qualities first, find out what you are really good at. Select something that is compatible to your qualities and work hard.
Don't go for quick and easy money - that may push you further back. Money is something to be earned through honest work. There is really no substitution for hard work. And nothing is as satisfying as hard-earned money.

you can't earn much on a job you are not passionate about. If you must, find things in finance, computing, economics, mathematics, engineering or medicine
You will be expected to specialise in your chosen area to get a higher salary.
Alternatively you can start by looking into Robert Kiyosaki's work (author of Rich Dad Poor Dad - it's good).

You don't need to spend money to be educated. In the end you're paying thousands of dollars for a piece of paper. This is your useless proof that you went to a recognized institution.
