There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.
If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

Under eye circles is caused due to the lack of sleep, stress, fatigue, dietary deficiency or disease. People with insomnia generally suffer from this.
You can use a concealer for a quick fix. Using yellow will neutralize the blues, purples, and husky hues on the skin. This does not remove the problem, but can build your confidence for the day, by alleviating the 'tired look'.
You can use tea bags and cucumbers... . Both tea bags and cucumbers reduce inflammation and decrease swelling. Tea bags are especially good to use for dark swollen circles because there is tannin inside of the tea that helps with eliminating the puffiness.
You should use more anti-oxidants. Antioxidant treatments help to reduce fluid buildup under the eyes, which decreases the dark circles. Therefore, you should go for treatments that involve a lot of vitamin C and GHK copper peptides. Also, vitamin K is great for restoring stability and strength to the blood vessels under the eyes, which reduces their proliferation.

I recently got this stuff at the Bobbi Brown counter, embarrassingly expensive, but it's pure magic. It goes on with a brush, also expensive, but you might not need it. They say you use less product with the brush. Anyway, here's the product:
Bobbi Brown Corrector. My color is bisque, but I'm sure they'll help you choose your right color and try to sell you hundreds of dollars of other stuff too!;-).
By the way, to prevent the dark circles, make sure you're getting enough sleep and water, and make sure you don't have any food allergies that could be causing it.

It's really quite strange how many people ask this - sleep with your head elevated and it will drain some fluid away - it's mostly fluid under your eye that causes it. cucumber and the spoon should work.
