I love the Yankees but I'm not delusional. The rotation this year is good but there are a lot of questions too. Wang will be fine but will Mussina start to show his age or have groin issues again? Will Pettitte's transition back to the AL be smooth? Will Igawa transition well from Japan? What will Pavano show after not playing in the majors for almost 2 years or will he be traded? If they get Clemens will his age finally show and will he pitch effectively in the AL? Will Hughes or any other prospects they picked up pitch this year and should we worry about them getting hurt? The Yankees will definitely live and die with their rotation as usual.

The Yankee's always have a pretty good pitiching rotation, this year's no different. I really would've liked to have traded Pavano because he's basically a money pit that gets put on the injured list when he breaks a nail. Anyhow, I think our pitching rotation would've been better had we signed Zito because he's a great pitcher that's going to get dulled down in the National League and when he's eventually ready to come back to play some real ball, he won't be up to par. That too is my worry with Andy, although I do love him to death, I worry that maybe a few years in the National league may not have been the best career move for him to return to the American league.

Their rotation should be good enough to go to the playoffs and win the World Series. The Yankees could have won the World Series with the pitching they had in 2004 had they not collapsed and acquired Randy Johnson in 2004. Has they got him at that time, the collapse would have never happened. So, while it isn't the greatest in history, it is good enough.

It depends on the back end of the rotation. The top of the order is great with Mussina, Wang, & Pettite. It largely depends on the bottom half of the rotation. If they can get Clemens, it will be great. If they start Phillip Hughes, even only half of the season, it will be good enough. If Pavano or Igawa do OK this season, the rotation will be fine. To me, it all depends on the bottom half of the rotation for it to be one of the best in the league.

Yes. The have a pretty good pitching staff. Pavano is still somewhat of a questions mark but he will get great run support.

Yes.
It culd be better if they traded Pavano but they have a good one.
With Mussina, Igawa, Pettite, Pavano and Wang they have as good a staff as anyone.
