A 950mhz Celeron is not a powerful CPU. I'm not surprised those four programs are consuming 96% of your CPU time. If you want things to run faster, it's time for an upgrade.

A Celeron 950 is roughly equal to a PIII 600. Not exactly a speed demon. If you have sufficient ram it should work OK. If you are using Win98 then 128M ram will suffice. Win2k needs 256, WinMe should be trashed but you'll need 256. If you upgraded to WinXp (bad move for your processor) you should up the Ram to 512. You can get a PIII replacement for the Celeron fairly cheaply - look for 800 Mhz to 1 Ghz. For those who think Celerons are crap, yes they are slower and the L2 cache is very small but they also use less wattage and are cooler. The latest Celerons have a 512 L2 cache, the only problem with them is a 533Mhz front side bus rather than 800.

um...celerons suck majorly 950mhz?? how old is your computer? The majority of processors out today run at lease 1.6 if not 2.0 ghz! I think it's time for you to treat yourself to a new computer.
