Japanese Wiimote?

I just bought a Wiimote for my Nintendo Wii. The Wiimote itself has English writing on it, but the box is covered in Japanese symbols (no English to be found). I bought this Japanese version because there were no American versions on the shelf. Do you think it will work with my Wii (I'm pretty sure I have an American Wii)?

it should work just fine. i think the packaging is the only thing that's different
