It means you always look @ the glass half full and not half empty. You always look at the bright side. A pessimist always looks @ the glass half empty and is normally a very depressed person. Always thinking that the worst is going to happen in every situation.

Well, that's what this realist/pessimist tends to think of such people, anyway!
I've gotten screwed in major life decisions by listening to optimist friends who do not think like me and therefore cannot predict what I will do when their optimism fails.
Optimists tend to not worry about a back-up plan, but they figure they'll come up with one when they nee dit.
And they tend to!

It comes from a Latin word "optimum" meaning the best, or greatest good. It was originally a philosophy that this world was the greatest of all worlds. Today it means that you believe that things will work out for the best or that you dwell on the positive side of things (the glass being half full instead of half empty).

The correct meaning of optimist or an optimistic person is a person or anybody whoever he/she may be, a positive thinker, i.e. a person with positive approach for everything that he/she faces in his/her life or we can simply say a positive thinker.
