There is a lot of skiing in the Poconos. I am sure there are other interested students at Penn. Check out you student activites board for group trips and perhaps advertise for a ride share. It should take less than 2 hours to get to the resorts.

Monica is right that there is a lot of skiing in the Poconos and that checking with other students is a good way to find a ride. I think the closest skiing to Philly is Blue Mountain

If you can't find a ride with someone, you might consider signing up for Philly Car Share..I think they have student rates and I know they have cars parked in University City (at Drexel, I think.)

the closest to philly is spring mount, but thats a dive. go to the poconos instead.
