Lots are but lots arent, alot of ''emos'' just love music.
And to the british guy emo is ''dark depressing look, black clothes, black makeup,Screamo music and some cut thier writsts.'' its kinda like the punk look.

The sexual orientation distribution of emos is the same as the general population. For the British guy, emo is a subculture in the US. The emo attitude is accepting your emotions and expressing them freely, NOT being depressed. A lot of people think emos are depressed because of the music, which is dark and melancholy. The fashion style generally involves tight, black jeans for both genders; tight t-shirts with unusual but generally non-offensive pictures or slogans; eyeliner for both genders; wristbands and armwarmers, generally striped; scarves; sweatervests; ties, generally clip on and worn over t-shirt; studded belts; liprings; glasses with thick, black, rectangular frames; and chin length to shoulder length, black hair with bangs that cover the eyes. Hair is often streaked or tipped with blonde, blue, pink, purple or red. Popular examples of emo music are Panic! at the Disco, Pedro the Lion, Simple Plan, Just Girls, My Chemical Romance, Texas is the Reason, Fall Out Boy, Blonde Redhead, and All American Rejects.

what is emos? i keep hearing that word on here, but i'm British and don't know what it means. Is it an American name for something?

I don't think being self-absorbed and melodramatic has anything to do with sexuality.
