I think they have been considered a frontrunner for a shot at the Cup all along. If Forsberg stays healthy they certainly improved their odds of making a strong run as he is a proven big game producer. Management hopes this will be the move that puts them in the finals because they ended up paying an incredible price and mortgaged a big part of their future for him. In the western conference there are no deals that would gaurentee a Cup based on the incredible depth of the conference from top through the 8th seed. Last season the top 4 seeds were all eliminated in the 1st round and it is conceivable that more top seeds will lose in the 1st round this year as well. Look at the goaltending....Kipper, Loungo, Hasek, Giguere, Vokoun, Roloson, turco. Any one of them can put together an incredible run and every year we see a hot goalie that carries his team to the Cup finals (last year it was both Roloson and Ward, both played out of their minds) and we will see it happen again this year. Who will it be? I have no idea but if it is Vokoun then the deal for Forsberg will be a stroke of genius for Predators management....if not then the media will crucify them for giving up too much. If it were me I would have made the deal too, Forsberg can dominate any game so it is a great gamble in my mind.

I was at last nights game coyotes, preds. Give Forsberg a couple more games to gel with the rest of the predators. They'll be unstoppable That game should've been 9 to 1 last night. there were a lot of miscues of a wide open net The puck was a 1/2 second to slow or fast or overskated, underskated the pass. When everyone starts to find each other the scoring talent on this team will be unbelievable.

I'm tired of hearing people bash Vokoun.. FIRST of all he had a serious injury last year so he couldn't prove himself. I've watched this kid since he started in Milwaukee. YOU will NOT find a better goalie. He is already showing maturity and incredible skills. I would not be going out on a limb to say he is going to surpass great goalies like Belfour.

Forsberg like Federov has been so totally lazy the past several years. HE is living off of his past merits. Which really aren't that many if you look closely. He had the benefit of playing next to one of the most amazing players in the game Joe Sakic. That alone will raise the level of your game. Forsberg COULD be a great player. HE has to show some killer instinct when it comes to playoff time. HE cowarded like a scared turtle against Buffalo last year. Nashville is going to win no matter what, and that can be attributed to Vokoun.

ON the other hand, Nashville obviously sees something about Forsberg they felt would better their chances. I hope it does. with or without Forsberg the Predators are already the best team in the West.

I don't know if they were not already a favorite. Forsberg could miss alot of time and be a non-factor. If healthy, they are deep down the middle. I personally don't like their chances because I think some other good teams have better and more proven goaltending. I'll take Giguere, Hasek, Brodeur, guys like that, over Vokoun anyday. Not that Vokoun is not good but what has he done in the post-season?? The other guys have all been play-off difference makers. My early guess would be Anaheim vs. NJ. Also through in that I think that the West is a tougher conference to get out of- Even if they finish 1st-how's about a 1st round match-up with Kipprusoff or Turco??? Whereas in the East, you finish 1st and you could get the likes of Toronto or NYI. Much easier.

Ottawa has been widespread to go back out of the East because the starting up of the season, yet i imagine the concensus has been that it will likely be both Detroit or Anaheim out of the West, and yet another win for the convention. in the present day: Detroit 11-4 Ottawa 6-a million Anaheim 6-a million Flyers are the subsequent maximum ideal at 10-a million.

They were already one of the favorites for a cup win. Forsberg will make them the team to beat in the west. However, San Jose, Vancouver, and Calgary have slightly better goaltending and a hot goalie can win a series against a more talented team like Nashville.

Forsberg is a valuable asset to any team
and will definitely add depth to the team
The Cup is a tough call
Anybody could win (except the Flyers)
But Nashville has as good or better chance than any team out there

Oh, definitely. They're more of a favourite than the Sabres. They both have more or less the same record this season, but with a healthy Forsberg having chemistry with his new teammates, Nashville will live up to their namesake.
