A middle school will be built with in the next year about 3or 4 blocks away from my house. Will this raise the value of my property or will it hurt it?

Schools in the local neighborhood are considered attractive if the school district is perceived as an excellent school district. On the other hand it is perceived as a bad school district there will be a negative effect.

One of the first thing people with school age child will ask or want to know is how is the school district? Some schools over come bad districts by getting Awards Of Excellence from the state and federal school associations.

So you will also hear things like the school district is not all that good, but the school close to us are always getting awards and the faculty is excellent.

So let's hope the school district gets a good reputation or the school get a good reputation.

I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

Depends on a few factors, but in general- 3 or 4 blocks if anything would probably help. homes built right next to schools or within a block can have issues, but 3 or 4 blocks is far enough that you wont fee the impact and noice of the schoo, and will actually be in ideal distance for a young family to live.

Having a school in your area is a plus at the start because it will be brand new and will or should be up to date as far a technology is concerned so if you want to sell it should give you a good market boost. If your school district is in the habit of not supporting there school in a few years it could drag you down

Could go either way. However, being 3 or 4 blocks from a school usually helps. It'll only hurt if the school has a major crime problem that spills into the neighborhood.

It works both ways. Older people, specially retired folks won't be interested, so the value won't be affected because they are not looking to buy in this area, in the other hand people with Young children will be more than happy to pay a premium price because of the location of the school

A new school in the neighborhood would tend to raise property values, but many things can be influenced by this, so who knows?

If I'm not mistaken, I think houses in the middle of school districts have excellent value.
