I just got a new computer that has Windows Vista and I am trying to upload pics from my dig. cam onto it, and it doesnt seem to want to work. It seems to not even recognize the f drive at all, when I have the usb cord for my cam. pluged into the usb port.. It recognizes it for other things, just not the dig. cam. I no longer have the disk for the cam. either, Im not sure if that is the problem, but I can use the cam on other computers without the disk with no problems. HELP! This windowns vista is a big headache...

Go to the digi camera's manufacturers website and search downloads for your camera model. It sounds like you just need to get Vista compatible software for the camera, IF it is available you will be able to download it for free. If this doesn't work you can get a USB card reader at walmart for the type of memory card your camera uses and upload to your computer that way. These usually cost around $15 - $20. This is a better way to upload from your camera's memory stick anyway. Running it through the camera will shorten the life of the camera.

With the card reader you can leave it plugged into your usb port and when you want to upload pictures to your computer you simply remove the card from the camera and insert it into the reader and you are good to go.

Try Vista Flickr Uploader
This is a great tool for uploading pictures, specifically to be used in Windows Vista. This should help you with your problem. It even shows you different types of dig cams. Good luck!

windows Vista being a relatively new operating system quite litterally has a number of bugs that need to be worked out. Drivers created for all the hardware devices out in the world.. Including your dig cam. I would think about downgrading to Windows XP for the time being.. Until Microsoft comes up with the next version of Vista with bug fixes and driver updates.
