I think it was Natalie, of the Dixie Chicks, that said they were ashamed that President George Bush was from Texas.

She said it very offhandedly, not raging and manical as some would like you to believe:

"We are ashamed that the president of the United States is from Texas" then the three of them laughed and went on with the concert.

She has receieved death threats because if that one statement.

Funny, all these Americans can rally to destroy someone's career over a comment, but we can't get it together to get our literacy rate up, make our drop put rate lower or to make our streets safer. We waste time on this crap instead. Who the heck cares what she thinks? She is entitled to her opinion and she has a right to voice it. It was just a ridiculous mess.

They said at concert in London. "We don't want these wars. I am a shamed that our president is from Texas".
Or something along those lines. When they went on Oprah, they said, the only reason for the comment was to show that they were concerned with the state of their country and not only playing music while ppl are dying.
I'm glad they used their status to say something. They made my proud to be from Texas again.

The lead singer, Natalie Maines, stated that she was ashamed to be from the same state as our President, George W. Bush. I don't remember the exact words she used, but that was what ticked everybody off...Most country music fans are super right wing Republicans, and to disrespect the President like that was a big insult to them.

well, specifically Natalie said that she was ashamed that bush was from TX (like them). otherwise, it hasn't really been comments so to speak, but just their anti-bush platform, in general.

but, hey they have freedom of speech, just like everyone else, even if bush doesn't like it and yes, he has went public with his own snide, childish remarks about the Dixie Chicks.

Btw, did everyone notice that the day after the grammys...bush raised gas prices by about 10cents/gal. yea, THAT was real "president-like."

they said that they were ashamed that they were from the same state as the president. and then they made an album about it and about "taking the long way around." i don't like country, but it's pretty good.
