Paris looked bored and I think that this is her parents attempt to help clean up Paris act. Rich girl gone bad becomes Heiress and marries a King,etc. Look at her gestures and her casual wear she is so out of place at such a lovely event.....

Paris' parents didn't send her, she was invited by an elderly gentleman who makes it a fashion every year to go with someone who "wouldn't normally fit in" such as one year he went with Anna Nicole Smith, and other such women. Lucky him.
Also, the creator of the event said she has no problem with him inviting whoever he likes so long as he buys his tickets (I believe she said they were like $750 each. However, he also purchases a $20,000 dollar Opera Box to watch from every year.
It was on 60 minutes.

Well if you are a socialite- you are a shoe in to go with her date. Otherwise you will have to work hard, become UBER rich and buy a ticket like the rest of those rich folks.
