How close did we come to destroying england?

The short answer is yes his plan could have worked.However had the Battle of Worcester(Woodbury Hill) taken place and the Franco -Welsh army been successful it's very likely that the French would then have turned on O G ,whilst this would have gone on the English would reformed there armies and started another campaign to reclaim there land.The outcome would have eventually been either an English victory or we would all be talking French now.
Of course it is all conjecture and there are a lot of possible outcomes.There are many societies devoted to Owain Glyndwr who could give you a lot of detailed info about that period in time .
Oh and one other thing .You never came close to destroying England as you were not born.When studying history always remain objective or your judjment will become very clouded

It is hard to go back in time and make predictions like this. But one thing is certain, had he have been successful Wales would have been a much, much different place than it is today.
